Kevin is a great guy. It took a while due to lack of help, but I wasn't in a real hurry and you really can't be in a transmission business, but drives great and he really does good work, but you are going to wait in a line. If you want to gripe about it.. He showed me the price of transmission these days... Glad I took it in when I did. It wasn't cheap then either. Thanks Kevin.

My Brother took his Navigator to Barr’s to have them look at the his gear shift indicator not showing the correct gear. The plastic part was broken and needed replaced. He was quoted 85dollars. When he went to pick up the car the dash had been cut out and the bill jumped to 450 dollars. Now I’m having to buy a dash at the tune of god only knows and then have to find someone to put it in. To repair the unnecessary damage to the car will be over $1,000. Not a HAPPY CAMPERj

Vehicle maintenance, if you drive often, is a given. No one drives for free. When and if you get to the point where your transmission is in question drop by Barr's and talk to Kevin, the owner and operator. He is extremely honest and well educated on transmission maintenance. I have used him twice in the past 15 years and he is my transmission guy. Give him the opportunity to at least give you an honest estimate. He guarantees all his work.

Reliable service at a price people can live with. Never felt talked down to and most importantly felt respected during the entire process. Ive had mechanics treat me like I was unknowledgeable and bars transmission did not. Highly recommend.

My transmission failed. They fixed it for $3,300. and it failed again a month later. They fixed it, but it took about 2+ weeks to get it back. Then it failed just a little outside the warranty. I pleaded with them and they fixed it for $2,600. This last time it went bad, it started to slip and I had my car towed in to Barr immediately, and they test drove it and said, "it's fine, keep driving it." Then I turned it in again about 10 days later letting them know "it's slipping in 2nd gear just like last time." They test drove it again (so they said) and said, "We don't feel it slipping. Just keep driving it." The next morning I was on the freeway going to work and the transmission failed 100%. Part of the problem is that it is a 2003 Acura TL which has the worst transmission issues in the world. Supposedly "re-enginered" but went bad a total of 4 times (the first time the dealer fixed it). There is no way of telling whether or not I got the re-engineered transmission. All went very prematurely, and Acura did not help me out. I did like that Barr apparently knocked $700 off the total bill, but thought that under the circumstances, they could have come a little further on the price cut. Also, they sent a tow truck out to pick me up when I was stranded and indicated to me that they would pay for the tow, but later included it in the bill. That's OK because I have towing on my insurance anyway. But this component of the business transaction seemed a bit tainted. They have a high rating, do a lot of transmissions, and I'm sure they know their stuff. But they met their match with the Acura transmission and I met my match with $6,000 to Barr within 2 years.
